World Series Finals Debut

American number one Amanda Sobhy says she’s excited to become the first U.S. born player ever to compete in the iconic season-ending PSA Dubai World Series Finals, which will take place in front of the stunning Burj Khalifa from May 24-28.

With a record prize fund of $160,000 up for grabs in the Women’s tournament – equal that on offer in the Men’s event – Sobhy will travel to Dubai ahead of what could be the biggest pay day of her professional career to date when she will hope to recapture the form that saw her reach the final of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in January.

“I’m very excited to have qualified for the World Series Finals in Dubai,” said Sobhy.

“I remember watching the last World Series finals on TV and thinking how cool it was, so it’s a really awesome feeling to be playing in it now and just looking at the pictures of the court set up was giving me goosebumps.”

Sobhy reached the lucrative tournament, which brings only the top eight players in the world together for an intense week of competition played out in a shorter best-of-three format, after securing the number eight spot on the Road To Dubai Standings and believes the event will be the perfect end to what has been a dramatic season on the Women’s Tour.

“It’s great for PSA to put on this tournament to give back to the players for all of their hard work and efforts throughout the season,” she said.

“I think it will be a great event to end the season with.”
